Obituary for Geneva Marie Frost

Geneva Marie  Frost
Mariaville - Geneva Marie Frost, 81, died February 18, 2017 at MCMH, Ellsworth with loved ones by her side. She was born on July 2, 1935 to Leslie O. and Eva M. (Brann) Frost.

She graduated from Washington State College, June, 1957 earning her teaching degree. The first two years she taught in Kittery. In 1959 she was recruited by the college to return to Machias as a junior- high teacher and served as librarian in 1960 -1961. She went to Boston for a summer course to earn her librarian's certificate and earned a Master’s degree and a certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies. In 1968 she was offered a position as Associate Professor of English. She was also chairperson for the Humanities Department, faculty advisor to the Phi Tau Phi sorority, the yearbook, school's literary magazine and served on various campus committees. Geneva retired May 1997. In 1976 she wrote a book of poetry. She was a church goer from an early age on up. She was lay minister in Eastport until her death.

In Mariaville, after retiring, she served her town as the town historian, selectperson from 2001-2004, ballot clerk, transfer committee, recycle and comprehensive committees. She helped in the Beech Hill School kitchen. She was a member of the Garden Club and head of the Frost Cemetery fund committee. She was also willing to help with a wedding or funeral service. She did work with Habitat. Geneva was always there for anyone that needed a helping hand. She never met a stranger and would have your history in five minutes. She was one special lady.

She is survived by many cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be held in the spring.
