Condolences

Condolence From: Alan PHIPPS
Condolence: My sincere condolences to the family & friends of Geneva Frost. I met Geneva at the Annual Meeting of the Thoreau Society in July, 1995. We talked a lot about our mutual interests in Thoreau & she was a willing guide on the various trips arranged for Society members. Each Christmas we kept in touch re our year and our mutual love of cats! She would always include photos of them in her hand-made cards. Each year one more of these had, alas, passed on! One year she arranged for my small daughter, Amelia, to have a pen-friend at a local school with which Geneva was involved. Although I only met Geneva that once, she struck me as a person of immense warmth. On reading "Geneva's Story", online, I was not at all surprised at the extent of her community involvement and obvious willingness to give. She was a person once met, always remembered!

Condolence: Miss Frost was my 7th and 8th grade teacher at the Campus School in Machias. Although we didn't always see eye to eye, she taught me writing skills that I use to this day. We worked together again as mentor and student when she taught Advanced Grammar at UMM. Geneva always took an interest in me and offered a warm welcome at alumni gatherings or whenever we met. Her contributions to UMM and to the many student lives she touched will not be forgotten.

Condolence: Geneva possessed the most generous heart and spirit and loving soul. She was my neighbor and dear friend for 37 years. She enriched my like in so many ways. She leaves me with so many fond memories, especially the UMM trip tp Scotland. Christmases won't be the same. So sad you are gone but so happy I knew you.

Condolence: To the many friends, family and former students, please accept my sincere condolences. Geneva Frost was a wonderful woman and I have many fond memories of her as a teacher during my years at UMM, as well as the many hours we spent working on The Binnacle, our school poetry magazine. Geneva may not have been married, but she definitely loved, and was loved! Thank you, Jordan-Fernald, for making this space available to us.

Condolence: I extend my deepest sympathies to the Frost and Brann families on Geneva's passing. She was a great inspiration to all who knew her, most especially all of those people who had the good fortune to call her teacher and professor. She was a rare combination of love, goodwill, knowledge, service, humor, and fun. She became an important part of my own family in the last thirty-four years and I will miss her more than mere words could ever express. And although I am deeply saddened by her death, I am confident that she is where she wants to be and that great rewards are now hers. "Well done, thou good and faithful servant . . . enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." Matthew 25:21.

Condolence: I am sorry to hear about Geneva's passing. I knew her from UMM as a professor and as a neighbor when I graduated and lived at the bottom of College Hill. Geneva was great lady and taught a lot of life skills to her students besides her many years of teaching English. I saw Geneva last year at an open house for a shelter my church is starting in Cherryfield. She was the same old wonderful person. She will be missed and left a great mark on the world and touched many lives.
