Obituary for Shirley Robert Kelley

Shirley Robert Kelley, 82, died October 23, 2011 in Bar Harbor. He was born May 12, 1929 in Tremont, the son of Joseph and Rose (McGovern) Kelley.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Shirley was a member of the Kebo Golf Club in Bar Harbor.
He owned and operated a barber shop in Southwest Harbor for 49 years. Shirley was an avid golfer and enjoyed an occasional beer.
Shirley is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Elizabeth (Emerson) Kelley. Two sons, Michael Kelley and wife, Susan of Salisbury Cove and Timothy Kelley and wife, Beth of Burlington, N. Carolina. Two sisters; Helen Anderson of Bass Harbor and Hilda Schauss and husband Norman of CT. Four grandchildren; Taylor, Joseph, Will and Ben.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and John Kelley and one sister, Rosemary Mathews.
Shirley was very much loved by his family and friends and always knew how to make everyone smile. The stories never end. His family would love to hear any memories of Shirley at his service.
Services will be held, 2:00PM, Saturday, October 29, 2011at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mt. Desert. Interment will be a Brookside Cemetery, Mt. Desert.
