Mary Madeline  Grindle
Mary Madeline Grindle, 80, died May 19, 2016 at V.A. Hospice, Togas Springs, Augusta. She was born March 19, 1936 in Governors Island, New York the daughter of Joseph L. and Mary M. (Vondenhoff) Lynchard.

Mary served in the U.S. Air Force as a documentation specialist handling flight status reports and public relations events for F15 from 1956-57. She worked for many years at MDI Hospital starting as a Switchboard Operator, working her way from Personal Assistant, through several positions to full-charge Accountant to Business Office Manager. Mary loved working as an Accountant in the medical field. Mary enjoyed cooking, gardening, word puzzles, painting and decorating, with voracious reading being a true passion.

Mary was a devoted member to the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, of Bar Harbor. She was a volunteer in many organizations including: MDI Hospital Auxiliary, Jesup Memorial Library, Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County, Bar Harbor Food Bank, Island Connections, the Connors-Emerson school reading program and the Red Hats Club.

Mary is survived by 2 daughters: Susan Klopfstein and husband, Richard, of Bar Harbor; Sharon Oliver and husband Maurice, of Lamoine; 4 grandchildren; Trevor and James Klopfstein, Brian Grindle and Maury Oliver; 2 adopted grandchildren, Brittany Gibson and Shane King. She was predeceased by her son, Michael Grindle, a sister Edith Villano and a brother, Joseph Lynchard.

Friends are invited to call 5:30 -7 pm, Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main Street, Mt. Desert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am, Friday, June 3 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 21 Ledgelawn Avenue, Bar Harbor. Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

Those who desire may make contributions in Mary’s memory to Holy Redeemer Capital Campaign at Transfiguration Parish, 21 Ledgelawn Ave., Bar Harbor, 04609.
