Nancy Rogers

I am so saddened to hear of Lucille's passing, she was a wonderful woman whom I came to know well when I worked as secretary/Title 1 teacher/kitchen assistant thru Sept. 1981 to June 1984. The highlight of my job was to go down at lunch time and help Lucille in the kitchen for 2 hrs. We chatted it up as we worked, and it was a joy to work beside Lucille, and to get some of her yeast roll/bread, and doughnut recipes. She was an excellent cook who loved the kids, and a good listener too. Seventeen yrs my senior, it was if she was a mother figure to me those three yrs. I wrote her a poem she loved while I was working at Cave Hill, one of her daughters-in-law had it burnished on a plaque for her, it said exactly how I viewed her, and felt about her. Not once as we had our kitchen talks did Lucille ever say a negative word about anybody. Now that is quite a testimony to a life well lived. Both my sons were fortunate enough to enjoy her cooking at school, and my grandson did for one year as well, before she retired. Heaven is a happier place with Lucille there, I know. As for me, I was very blessed to come to know Lucille and be friends with her. My condolences go to Harvey, Mitch, Gary, Joe, and Kenny, and all the grandchildren, and great grandchildren. So long Lucille, see you when I get there. Rest in the arms of our Lord.
