Laurie Easton Parker

Johnnie & Lenora were very dear to us, like adopted grandparents. Our whole family (George & Anne Easton and daughters) have loved them since we met back in 1967, our first summer on Swan's Island. Johnnie & his brother Burton built our house on Harbor Road in 1972. We enjoyed countless special visits throughout the years, whether it be at their home or on his boat. It was always such fun to take our boys Bradford & William to visit; both Johnnie & Lenora loved babies & children. My husband, Weston Parker, & Johnnie were especially fond of one another. Last fall when Wes was living and working on the island he made 8 trips to see Johnnie in Bangor. This past summer we went to see him 3 times, taking him out for lunch on the water. The last time we were there, Lenora was also at the Veterans' Home so we got permission to take Johnnie to see his beloved wife & he was thrilled. Our final memory of Johnnie & Lenora was chatting with them as they delightedly shared a cup of ice cream together. They sat side by side holding hands. Their enduring love was sweeter than any dessert. We will honor these memories and miss them both so very much.
