Condolence From: Larry and Linnea Wardwell
Condolence: Johnnie and Burton built the house next door and we were always back and forth--Larry, Johnnie and Burton joking in that great, dry, funny way of theirs. Johnnie was such a loving man and we hold these and many other moments so dearly in our hearts. To Helen, to Lenora, to Edward and everyone else in the family, we give our loving condolences and say, "He was one of a kind!!"

Condolence: The Wright/Flakins Summer family is deeply saddened by the passing of Johnnie Wheaton.
We would not have our beloved summer home next to Cragtop were it not for the wonderful efforts of Johnnie and his brother Burton, who built it with love and care for Mom & Dad.

Condolence: Johnnie & Lenora were very dear to us, like adopted grandparents. Our whole family (George & Anne Easton and daughters) have loved them since we met back in 1967, our first summer on Swan's Island. Johnnie & his brother Burton built our house on Harbor Road in 1972. We enjoyed countless special visits throughout the years, whether it be at their home or on his boat. It was always such fun to take our boys Bradford & William to visit; both Johnnie & Lenora loved babies & children. My husband, Weston Parker, & Johnnie were especially fond of one another. Last fall when Wes was living and working on the island he made 8 trips to see Johnnie in Bangor. This past summer we went to see him 3 times, taking him out for lunch on the water. The last time we were there, Lenora was also at the Veterans' Home so we got permission to take Johnnie to see his beloved wife & he was thrilled. Our final memory of Johnnie & Lenora was chatting with them as they delightedly shared a cup of ice cream together. They sat side by side holding hands. Their enduring love was sweeter than any dessert. We will honor these memories and miss them both so very much.

Condolence: I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I am so thankful though, for having driven all the way to the ferry, to make the extra trip to Swans island in 2008 to meet Mr. & Mrs. Wheaton. We were treated like royalty with a five course meal that was beyond delicious. Staying with the Wheaton's for one brief afternoon on Swans Island changed my life forever. I will always remember the wonderful gentle kind loving souls who made us feel so welcome on the beautiful Swans Island. Blessings to you all.

Condolence: Johnnie and his (then young) son were among the first people to welcome me to the island. He and his brother did a lot of work on our summer house there, and Johnnie got a kick out of taking my children on his boat and introducing them to the work of lobstering. Both Laura and Doug loved him and Lenora, and my daughter introduced her little son Ben to them the summer after he was born. Johnnie was a blessing to us all.
My love and prayers go to Lenora, Helen, and Ed.
