Obituary for Georgette J. Stratton

Northeast Harbor
Georgette J. Stratton, 79, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on November 28, 2014 following a brief battle with cancer. She was born on May 11, 1935, in Bar Harbor, the only daughter of George S. and Laura G. (Sullivan) Jellison.
Georgette graduated from Bar Harbor High School in 1953. In 1956 she met and married William D. Stratton, her caring husband of 52 years. Together Georgette and Bill settled in Northeast Harbor, where they raised two sons. For over 25 years, Georgette was a much-beloved fixture at Mount Desert Elementary School, where she worked as a teachers’ aid before becoming the school’s secretary.
She is survived by her sons, Brian (Ted) Stratton and Barry Stratton and his wife Janet, all of Northeast Harbor. Georgette will be dearly missed by her three grandchildren, Rory Stratton of Washington, D.C., Cody Stratton of St. Helens, Oregon, and Kelsey Stratton of Austin, Texas. Georgette was predeceased by her husband Bill in 2008.
A private service will be held in the warmer months. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Georgette’s memory may be made to the Mount Desert Nursing Association, P.O.
