Obituary for Elizabeth R. Denniston

Elizabeth R. “Betty” Denniston, 84, died June 22, 2014 at anEllsworth hospital. She was born in Minneapolis, MN, February 27, 1930 the daughter of Donald F. and Grace (Wasson) Ross.
Betty was an artist. She enjoyed painting portraits and scenery. She had worked in a variety of medians including pen and ink, watercolors, acrylics, and more recently, gouache. She was an avid musician and loved to play the piano. After caring for her son, Bruce she published a book entitled “The Caregivers Guide”. She was very involved in her community. Betty was a member of a number of organizations and the Congregation churches of the communities she lived in.
She is survived by daughter, Robyn Riggleman of Gouldsboro; stepdaughter, Barbara Snapp and husband Craig of Brunswick and Steuben; son, Charles “Chip” Butterwick of Hancock; stepsons, Evans Denniston and wife Jill of Brunswick and Steuben, Michael Denniston and wife Sandy of Naples; grandchildren, Brooke Butterwick, Ryan Riggleman, Jasper and Ari Denniston, Amy Snapp, Robin Gustafson, and Sarah Denniston; sister, Cynthia R. Vickers of Seabring, FL. She was predeceased by her son, Bruce Butterwick; husband, Edward E. Denniston; a special friend, Robert Mason; and stepdaughter, Priscilla Denniston.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Hancock Congregational Church. Interment will be at the family cemetery on Petit Manan Point.
