The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Dorothy Hatch can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Susan Dinsmore Christy

Miss Jose will always be fondly remembered as a beloved teacher in whose classroom my best friend and I spent many happy hours as students and “cracker girls”. She trusted us to count the money, roll the nickels and sort the crackers for our daily deliveries to each classroom at Cummings School in the early sixties. My friend and I were fortunate to have reconnected with her in later years when we, too, had become educators in an elementary school. It was such a delight to know that her laughter with that accompanying clap of the hands and little kick of the foot was ever present in her later years. We were saddened to know of her illness and latest struggles but feel fortunate to have said good-bye with a wave and smile just a few weeks ago. I will miss her refrain, “now girls, tell me” as she was always interested in our adult lives, families and teaching roles. Thank you, Dot, for creating lovely childhood memories and a special grown-up friendship.
