Condolence: I'm glad to have read these condolences. Thank your for taking the time to stop in and write them. I just got off the phone with my mother and sister who have just now gotten back from Somesville after attending Blaine's memorial. They said it was brief and meaningful. They sent pictures of the whole family and gave me a chance to feel like I had made it too. god love them. I'm living and working in New York and couldn't make the trip. Sorry Blaine. I apologize. I really wanted to come. I love you, you smiley sonova gun. They said it was befitting the man you were. Blaine was like an uncle to me an uncle with the life experience of a grandfather.

A little background. I am 32. Blaine was 78. My father, Cam, RIP would be 69. I met Blaine sometime between 1982-1983. I owe that meeting to my father, who through chance and through a shared love of machinery, tools, trade, and vodka met so many years ago. I remember my first barbecue with the Haynes family shortly afterward. I remember Lobster feed's,, mud runs, fairs, antique auto shows, and weekends spent with he, Nodie, teddy bear, and hug-e-bear, going back almost as far as I CAN remember (anything that is...) Thanks for all the bugs Blaine. I'm sure I ate a few dozen on your tab. At least.

I haven't been up to Somesville in a while and I regret that now. I was just telling my girlfriend a few weeks ago I need to get up and see Blaine and give him one last hug. Damn it. I didn't make it in time. Luckily I had a chance to stay with him while my girlfriend went to a conference at the Jackson Lab a few years back. I stayed up in the guest room and had a chance to eat dinner and knock back a few vodkas and share stories over dinner while Blaine fed Toby. His beloved African Grey Parrot Like he always did, right out of his mouth. Toby is older than I am. I'm quite sure of that. Good luck at your new home Toby. Poor boy. What a week Toby has had.

The bonds between my family and Blaines go back a long way and we love you all and are so happy to have met you all. We miss Nodie heaps and hope they have both found peace and each other. Blaine deserves a full multi page article written by someone with technical knowledge who knew him like my father did. I hope someone from the Antique Engine association shares some stories about him at their next meeting. I want to know even more about the man I knew so well as a child. I guess I'll have to go up and have a visit with Steve and Terry and shoot the breeze for an afternoon one of these days.
God Bless you Blaine.

Love always. RJ

Condolence: So sorry to hear of Blaine's passing. Over the decades he helped us countless times when the mowing seemed to be getting the best of us. A funny, generous man, he was always willing to drop things to get us through a little crisis ~ and always with a wink and a nod. Our sincere condolences to the family. The community will miss Blaine.

Condolence: Folks,
Sorry for your loss. He was a good friend to our family, and he will be missed.
Blaine could bring a smile even when telling you your mower or engine was "pooched". When we look back at characters we have known, Blaine will come to mind. Blaine may have not preached it, but he set the example to enjoy each day.
My condolences to the family.
