Obituary for Alice W. Beaney

Bar Harbor
Alice W. Beaney, 88, died June 12, 2013 at Sonogee Rehab & Living Center, Bar Harbor. She was born in Surry, March 29, 1925, a daughter of Harold C. and Georgia E. (Worcester) Whitney.
Alice grew up in Bar Harbor and attended Bar Harbor schools. After high school, Alice attended Husson Business School in Bangor. She married Wendell Beaney in 1945. After raising her children, she worked at MDI Hospital as a certified nurses’ aide and ran the switchboard until her retirement. She enjoyed reading, knitting and adored her cats. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Alice is survived by her children, Cheryl Berube of Bangor, David and wife Michele Beaney of Hampden; grandchildren, Stefanie Peary and husband Kevin, Erika Beaney-Ervin and husband Brian, Brian Foley and wife Lori, Jennifer Foley, and Effie Mae Rideout; great-grandchild, Sophie Rideout; nephew, Phil A. Whitney and wife Karin of Cranberry Island; niece, Elaine Seavey of Mt. Desert; special friend, Jean Howell of Bar Harbor. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Arden L. Whitney and Philmore Whitney.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 1:30 PM, Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Hillside Cemetery, Hulls Cove.
