Obituary for Wilton Foster Jones, Sr

Sullivan
Wilton Foster Jones, Sr., 83, died peacefully May 6, 2013 at home with his family. He was born in Sullivan, January 17, 1930, a son of Alton Foster and Effie (Havey) Jones.
Wilton graduated from Sullivan High School in 1948 and June 3, 1949 married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ellen Bean. He worked construction and later at several Ellsworth auto dealerships as a mechanic. He was a volunteer firefighter in Sullivan, a board member for the Sullivan-Sorrento Recreation Center, and a member and usher at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellsworth.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Ellen (Bean) Jones; daughters, Linda Abbott and husband Bruce of Franklin, Susan Guyette and husband Clement of Sorrento, and Kirstie Dubois and partner Alton Jones of Bethany Beach, Delaware; son, Wilton F. Jones II and wife Lori of Mt. Desert; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brothers, Morrill, Arthur and wife Janet, and Roger and wife Loretta; sister, Rena and husband Phil; a special niece, Melanie and husband Marvin McIntire of Sullivan; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by sisters, Aldene and Edna.
Calling hours will be held 5:30-7:00 pm, Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St. Ellsworth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am, Friday, May 10, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 231 Main St. Ellsworth. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ellsworth.
