Obituary for Wilda Higgins

Bar Harbor
Wilda Martin Higgins, 96, died April 27, 2015 in Bar Harbor. She was born January 28, 1919 in Otter Creek, to Ulysses and Myrtle (Martin) Harvey. Subsequently, her stepfather was George Burns, also of Otter Creek.
Wilda attended and graduated as Salutatorian from Gilman High School in Northeast Harbor. She worked for 25 years at the Jackson Memorial Laboratory in Bar Harbor. Wilda was furthermore, a faithful parishioner at Saint Savior’s Episcopal Church in Bar Harbor where she was a longtime member of the Altar Guild.
Wilda leaves behind her brother, Rodney Harvey of New Britain, CT.; as well as her sister, Flora and husband Robert Bell, of New Britain, CT and Naples, FL. She also leaves her son, Paul and his wife Anna Higgins of Bar Harbor and her son, Peter and his wife Althea Higgins from Madison, CT. Wilda also leaves behind her grandchildren, Matthew, Aaron, Scott and Alex Higgins and her four great-grandchildren, Karly, Cole, Sophie and Oliver. Wilda is predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Jerry Francis Higgins; as well as by her brothers, Loren and Clarence, her twin brother, Wilmont; and her two sisters, Marie and Faye.
Memorial services will be held 10:00AM, Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mt. Desert with Reverend Timothy Fleck officiating. Interment will be at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Savior’s Episcopal Church, Windows Fund, 41 Mt. Desert St., Bar Harbor, ME 04609.
