Thomas J. Casey, 62, died suddenly on June 24, 2014. He was born Oct. 9, 1951 in New York, NY the son of Dennis and Alice (Leach) Casey.

Tom was an avid enthusiast of primitive art, classic cars, cooking, nature and a collector of antiques. He was gifted in interior design and an extraordinary chef, who was employed at several fine dining establishments over the years as well as owning his own restaurant. He was also very beneficial at finding solutions and solving problems related to the hotel and food industry. He was very well traveled before settling down and making his home on Mt. Tom enjoyed the entire island had to offer and spent most of his spare time exploring the trails of the Rockefeller’s property, Acadia Park and elsewhere with friends as well as his loyal companion and beloved schnauzer, Laddy. Tom had his electrical license and also worked as a superb waiter for the last 25 years at the Bar Harbor Inn where he made numerous friends from around the world.
Tom is survived by his two sisters, Denise Rocca, of Pittsfield, MA and Pat Deno, of New York; a brother, Bill Casey, of WA; a niece, Kylie C. Carpenter, of Maui and their two children; and his best friend of 30 years, Mike Tasca. Tom will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Theresa Higdon.
Those who desire may make contributions in Tom’s memory to the SPCA of Hancock County, 141 Bar Harbor, Trenton, 04605. Tom also had wanted to be an organ donor and he fulfilled that desire.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be announced at a later date.
