Obituary for Simeon Adams Michaud

Southwest Harbor and Ellsworth
Simeon Adams Michaud, 13, died on March 12, 2014 at a Bangor hospital. He was born August 19, 2000 in Bangor, the son of Leslie K. (Adams) Michaud and Edward G. Michaud.
Simeon attended Pemetic School in Southwest Harbor from kindergarten, becoming an honor student through his middle school years. In school he played three musical instruments of which the electric bass was his favorite, and once gave a clutch performance that made his school jazz band eligible to compete at the state level. He was also a vocal soloist with the school show choir. Simeon had a proclivity for the performing arts and acted in many school and community productions. He found numerous outlets for his humor from everyday conversational wit to writing to film making. This also afforded him the opportunity to explore another enthusiasm, digital technology. He also ran track, cross country, and played soccer, earning his school varsity letter. Simeon came into the world born of wisdom unknown by many. In recent months he came to understand adult complexities and used his spirit-filled intellect to explore his own existential nature. He challenged his parents and himself to explore the answers to questions about life and love. Simeon’s compassion and kindness ran much more deeply than people realized. These attributes combined to produce an enlightenment that he shared with those who knew him all of his life as well as those with whom he had brief encounters.
Simeon is survived by his parents; a beloved sister Camille; maternal grandparents, Charles and Mary Claire Adams of Glen Allen, Virginia; paternal grandparents, Victor and Jeanette Michaud of Augusta; several aunts and uncles and many cousins.
Simeon showed great dignity and grace throughout his life, with his heart full of deep gratitude, kindness, compassion and love. His family wants to thank all the staff at Cancer Care of Maine and the pediatric staff at Eastern Maine Medical Center.
Friends are invited to call from 4-7pm, Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin Street, Ellsworth, where a time of sharing and eulogizing will take place at 6:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 4pm, Thursday, March 20, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 231 Main Street, Ellsworth, with Father Scott Mower as Celebrant.
Those who desire may make contributions in Simeon’s name to Summer Festival of the Arts (SFOA), P.O. Box 58, Southwest Harbor, 04679; the Maine Community Foundation for Brennan’s Buddies, 245 Main Street, Ellsworth, 04605; or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), MASS Chapter, 9 Erie Drive, Natick, MA, 01760.
