Obituary for Ruth W. Watson

Mt. Desert
Ruth W. Watson, 87, died November 15, 2013 at a Bangor hospital. She was born January 25, 1926 in Cape Elizabeth, the daughter of Perley A. and Edith E. (Brown) White.
Ruth was a member of the Tremont Congregational Church in Tremont. She was an active member of the Footloose Friend’s hiking group. Ruth volunteered with Downeast Horizons and Island Connections on Mt. Desert Island. She was an avid bird watcher and gardener. Ruth loved making gifts for her family.
She is survived by her daughter; Meredith Ford and her husband Tony of Oceanside, CA, sons; Clifton E. Watson Jr. and his wife Janice of Franklin, MA, Chandler and his wife Jean of Milford, MA and Peter and his wife Jacque of Lyons, CO.; one brother, Ferd White of Wallingford, CT. She leaves behind eleven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren and twin great-grandchildren on the way. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Clifton E. Watson in January 2012; a daughter, Andrea Watson in July of 2012.
Visitation will be held 5:30-7:00PM, Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mt. Desert. Funeral services will be held 10:00AM, Wednesday, at the Tremont Congregational Church in Tremont with Rev. Dr. Wayne Buchanan officiating. A graveside service will be held 1:00PM, Thursday at Riverside Cemetery, Cape Elizabeth.
