Condolence From: Tina Hinckley
Condolence: Mimi, Bart and Andy. Our family is so sad to learn of Bob's passing. But somehow, I believe we will see that float plane flying over SW Harbor as in so many years past. And we will think of him always, as up there. Our deepest sympathies to you and all the wonderful grandchildren. Bob and Tina Hinckley

Condolence: Dearest Mimi,
What a sad day. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I'm sending my love and prayers to you and the boys in this hard time of passing. Bob was a character and Dick, Rocky and I loved him for his zeal for life. He was a mishmash of so many things; funny, kind, cantankerous, outrageous, warm, dedicated and curious. I will remember his incredible spirit, passion, and great stories. Going to the dentist is not a life affirming activity, it is one which most of us dread. However, Bob and Jane always made us laugh and sent us on our way with a chuckle. That alone is an incredible feat. You were so lucky to be his best mate and he for knowing and loving you for 50 years. Not a bad kick at the can, my friend. Keep smiling, he's in a better, more peaceful place now and you have a gazillion friends with fabulous teeth, all ready to catch you.

Condolence From: Bob Salesi
Condolence: My sincere condolences to the Massucco family.

I mostly saw Bob at the local ski races where how could I help but meet him. In fact, it was he who initiated the friendship and quite overwhelmed me. Who was this guy?!! As I became more acquainted with him at the xc ski races it became, "Where's Massucco?" or "Is Massucco here?" I shortly realized he rarely missed a xc ski race. For Bob and me it was competition of a different sort though. Each of us was never destined to win the big races but rather having similar abilities we squared off against each other and that was the fun. I'll never forget our last race up in Moosewood. That story has had plenty of mileage from here to western Canada.

Once I was social skiing on MDI and in the far distance there came a skate skier churning up the trail, powder snow flying everywhere with poles and skiis punishing the trail. I told my partner, "That's Bob Massucco!" Even from that far remove it couldn't have been anyone else! I called out a hello and he stopped immediately and came back to chat. It turned out he was training to go to the Masters in Alaska and enter at the END of his age group, not a practice regularly pursued. Bob's reason, of course, was perfectly logical; he just wanted the challenge. That's why I loved him. How could I not?

I had often passed his home in Somesville and even stopped several times but to no avail. Finally, one afternoon a few years ago I tracked him down at his summer place. Jan and I had a delightful afternoon with Bob and Mimi.

I regret I didn't get to see more of him, but only one encounter with Bob was packed with such high intensity and life force that it would be enough.

Ski hard, my friend, and don't look back, we've coming after you!!

Condolence: Mimi...at first my heart was saddened by the news, only to be replaced with a smile for the many found memories I have of Bob. His love of the art of cussing...he did take it to a level that was often way colorful...his love of adventure, Mother Nature, and his zeal for life was his gift to all who knew him...he was the last person I saw as I drove away from MDI many years ago...we exchanged loving swears at each other as we waved goodbye....he was also the last person I ran into skiing on Parkman when we were both mending from our crashes..he from his roof fall...mine from my ropes course mishap...we both knew we were lucky to still be moving. I loved knowing him and will be forever grateful for the expressions of friendship he extended my way.

Condolence: So sorry to hear of your loss of Bob - too late for me to attend the calling hours. Do hope that memories of your life together rapidly replace the feelings of loss. He was a wondrous human with an equally wondrous wife.

Condolence: I never knew Dr. Bob. Sad, I didn't get to know him, reading of his passion for the outdoors. I do know Dr. Bob's granddaughter, Jian quite well. I'm proud to let all who knew Dr. Bob know that his legacy is in very good hands with Jian, and hopefully the rest of his kids and grandkids as well. Jian often tells beautiful stories about the time she spent with her Maine grandparents. Dr.Bob and Mimi have given Jian lasting memories, the kind of memories that will allow her grandparents' love and thoughtfulness to last many, many generations.
The Kendricks' thoughts are with Jian and Mimi and everyone else who loved Dr. Bob.
