Obituary for Robert C. Bartlett

Robert C. Bartlett, 89, passed away on Nov. 20th, 2015 in Augusta. He was born in Boston, MA on Oct. 7th, 1926 and was the eldest son of Charles and Helen (Horner) Bartlett of Southwest Harbor, ME.
Bob graduated from Pemetic High School in Southwest Harbor (class of 1944). He enlisted in the Army-Air Force in 1944 and served with the 53rd Carrier Squadron as a crew chief during World War II. He spent time in England, France, and Germany.
After his military service he attended Coburn Classical School in Waterville and received degrees from Hussen College and Baptist Christian College. On April 2, 1950, Bob married Arlene Mitchell of Bernard and together they raised three daughters. During his work career, Bob worked for several railroads including the Boston and Maine Railroad and later for the federal government as a locomotive inspector with the Department of Transportation. Bob was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, the American Legion, and the Masons.
He will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters and their families, Susan Lahti and husband William and their three sons Kevin, Scott, and John, all of Canton, MA Patricia Bartlett of Surry, and Ann Galipeau and husband John of Limington. Bob was predeceased by his wife Arlene and his two brothers David and Byron.
The Bartlett family wishes to thank the staffs of the Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta and Maine General Hospice for their kindness and excellent care of Bob.
Funeral services will be held, 10:00AM, Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mt. Desert with Reverend Victor Stanley officiating. Interment will be at Hillrest Cemetery, West Tremont.
