Obituary for Richard Melvin Hodgkins

Richard Melvin Hodgkins, 86, died August 29, 2009 in Lamoine surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Hancock, April 22, 1923 the son of Thaddeus R. and Gladys (Norwood) Hodgkins.
Richard served in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He enjoyed lobster fishing, clamming and his vegetable garden. One of his favorite pastimes was reading; particularly books on history. Richard looked forward to his daily trips to Skillings River, Marlboro Beach, Lamoine State Park and Lamoine Beach.
He is survived by his daughters, Mary Antonelli of MA, Linda Connolly and husband Ronald of SC, Patricia Silva of MA and Gloria Hutchins and husband Sabin of Franklin; grandchildren, Carla Antonelli Coble, Arthur Antonelli, III, Heather Pearce, Daniel Silva and Erin Silva; great-grandchildren, Brady Coble, Robbie Labier, Brian Labier, Hailey Silva and Jayson Silva; brother-in-law, Robert Kudlich of Scarborough. He was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Laura U. Jones Hodgkins; brother, Joseph W. Hodgkins; sisters, Ena Norwood Frye, Barbara Kudlich; great-granddaughter, Shannon Labier and Dorothy Bates, his companion of 15 years.
