Myron “Mike” Flo, Sr., 93, died February 25, 2014 at an Ellsworth healthcare facility. He was born August 29, 1920 in Bricelyn, Minnesota, the son of Oscar Leonard and Hazel Jane (Bravick) Flo.
He graduated from Bricelyn High School in 1938 and attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota until 1941when he joined the Army Air Corp the day after the Pearl Harbor attack and served until 1945. He married Mary Elizabeth Christensen, September 27, 1941 and they enjoyed many years of marriage until her death December 05, 1995. He pursued a successful career at J C Penney Company from 1945 until his retirement in 1979, including at one point becoming manager of the largest Penney store in the country. For the last 14 years Mike was blessed by a loving relationship with Roberta Scott, with whom he enjoyed taking sea cruises and entertaining family and friends from their home in Sullivan. He was also an avid reader of books and newspapers and loved to discuss politics with visitors. He was active in Rotary, including a term as North Fresno Club president, 1978-1979, and as a member of the Fresno Chamber of Commerce, Fresno Art Center, and San Joaquin Country Club.
He is survived by his companion, Roberta Scott of Sullivan; sons, Mike Flo, Jr and wife Wyn of Granite Falls, NC, Eric Flo and wife Laurie of Bellingham, WA, and Jon Flo of Eugene, OR.; daughters, Kris Rose and husband John, and Claire Anderson and husband Bruce both of Fresno, CA; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; wife Mary; and sister,Valorus.
