Obituary for Michael J. McFarland

Michael James McFarland, 43, died suddenly December 6, 2013 at a Bangor hospital from complications of a Respiratory Illness. He was born December 16, 1969 the son of James E. and Joyce M. (Hagerthy) McFarland.
Michael loved the sea. He spent many years as a commercial fisherman in ports all over New England. Michael recently discovered enjoyment in kayaking on the ocean. He had many friends and was a kind, giving person with a big heart. His greatest love was his son, Gabriel, who predeceased him on March 4, 2013.
Michael is survived by his parents, of Bar Harbor; sisters, Sarah McEachern and husband Matt; Bethany Reece and husband Mat; nieces, Ashley and Lindsey McEachern and Calie and Bailey Reece, all of Bar Harbor; also the mother of Gabriel, Crystal Urquhart-Asbury; a special friend, Hank Dow and all his friends from Bar Harbor Marine. Michael will be especially missed by Lexo, his loyal canine companion.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11am until noon, Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013 at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main Street, Mt. Desert where a funeral service will follow at noon. Spring interment will be at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor.
