Obituary for Mary Eleanor LaBelle

Ellsworth
Mary Eleanor (Thompson) LaBelle, 78, passed away December 11, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. She was born July 3, 1934 in Wesley to Charles and Lucy (Guptill) Thompson.
The summer before Mary graduated from Old Town High School in 1952, where she lettered in softball, she met the love of her life while blueberry raking at her grandmother Hattie’s fields in Wesley. On August 30, 1952 she married her sailor, Lee K. LaBelle. They built a life together with Mary at the heart of it as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mary was an awesome cook, and also liked to knit, crochet, read, garden, spend time at camp, Lee’s trap line assistant and constant companion, cribbage player, and an avid Patriots and Yankee’s fan. She is a member of the Union Congregational Church of Ellsworth Falls where she was very active teaching Sunday School, was a Deacon, served on the Board of Trustees, and a member of the Mothers Club. Mary acted as cheerleader for her grandchildren in all their endeavors. She always said that her family was her treasure, but in fact, truth be told we all knew it was the other way around, for she was ours.
She is survived by her loving husband, Lee K. LaBelle of Ellsworth; one son Dwayne LaBelle and wife Andrea of Dedham; one daughter, Karen Baron and husband Danny of Ellsworth; two grandsons, Austin Baron of Ellsworth, Matthew LaBelle and partner Hana of Portland; granddaughter, Amanda LaBelle and her partner Daniel of Rockland; one sister, Charla Thompson of Payson, AZ; one brother, Samuel Thompson and wife Kathy of Milford, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a sister, Yvonne Gifford.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Union Congregational Church of Ellsworth Falls at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Amanda McCullough officiating. Interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery in Ellsworth.
Contributions in Mary’s memory may be made to the Union Congregational Church of Ellsworth Falls; PO Box 635, Ellsworth, ME. 04605
