Obituary for Marion Fletcher

Ellsworth
Marion Fletcher, 85, died peacefully October 28, 2015 in Ellsworth with her much loved daughter-in-law, daughter and grandson by her side. She was born on November 19, 1929, in Ellsworth, and lovingly raised by Owen F. and Mary F. (Webber) Young in Ellsworth Falls.
Marion, for the most part, was a stay-at-home mom. There wasn’t anything she could not do - sew, knit, crochet, bake, cook, garden, dance, paint, and taking care of her kids. She made the best whoopie pies and her biscuits were the best! We were all recipients of her warm mittens and hats. She was a den mother when her boys were young and a Girl Scout leader for her daughter. She ran the Thrift Shop in Ellsworth Falls for many years. She was a loving and involved grandmother. She loved her grandchildren unconditionally, spending a great deal of time with them. Gail and Brenda couldn’t have raised their children without the love and support from Grammie. She helped Katherine and Keith become amazing young adults, and they adored her. Above all, she was a caregiver. She lost her dad when she was 10, unselfishly took care of her mother and her husband when they needed her most. Mom was our rock; the one we all turned to when we needed strength. Mom was a great woman, always putting her family first. She will be forever missed and remembered.
Marion is survived by her daughter-in-law and caregiver, Gail Fletcher of Ellsworth and grandson, Adam, of Bangor, her son, Robert Fletcher, and his wife, Rose, and grandson, Jason of Belfast, and her daughter, Brenda Jordan, and her husband, Gregg, of Waltham, and their children Jeremiah and wife, Charlotte, Katherine, and Keith, and her great-grandchildren, Lucas, Jocelyn, and Olivia, all of Waltham, her sister-in-law, Patricia (Fletcher) Godfrey and her husband and family in Florida. Marion was pre-deceased by her husband, Clyde Fletcher, Sr. in 1988, son, Clyde Fletcher, Jr. in 1997, and great-grandson, Timothy Jordan in 2000.
During the past year, her daughter-in-law, Gail, took great care of mom. She lived with her and cared for her like she was her own mom. Our family is grateful for Gail’s unselfish love. We are also grateful to Beacon Hospice from Bangor, who stepped in when we needed the support.
A service of remembrance will be held in the spring when her beloved granddaughter returns from college in Spain.
