Obituary for Margaret Lunt

DEDHAM
Margaret C. Lunt, 93, wife of the late Edward C. D. Lunt, died Jan. 23, 2013, in Wichita, Kan. She was born Feb. 11, 1919, in Castine, to George C. and Ruth M. Crosby and was raised in Castine until moving to Bangor and then to Brewer.
Margaret graduated from Brewer High School in 1937, Beals Business School in 1938 and left for Washington, D.C., soon after. She worked for the Navy Department for the next six years before returning to Maine and eventually residing by Phillips Lake for the remainder of her life. Not one to stay at home or be still, she held various jobs, and was involved with many clubs and community organizations. Ultimately, she found her dream job in the Hancock County Probate Office, where she served as the register of probate for nearly 40 years. She held that position until 2004, retiring at the age of 85. In honor of her many years of service and consummate wit, the Governor declared her retirement date to be Margaret C. Lunt Day in the state of Maine. Coincidently, her uncle had served as the judge of probate in the same office many years before.
She is survived by one daughter, Jill and husband, Tony Pimentel of Wichita, Kan.; grandchildren, Heidi M. Pimentel and husband, Farrel Williams of Morgan Hill, Calif., Gregory L. Pimentel of Richmond, Va., and Christopher A. Pimentel and wife Laura, of El Segundo, Calif.; five great-grandchildren and many broken hearts.
Funeral arrangements are to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dedham/Lucerne Fire Department, attn: Michelle Begin, 2073 Main Road, Dedham ME 04429 or to the Dedham Congregational Church, 512 Upper Dedham Road, Dedham, ME 04429.
