Condolence From: Pat and Linda Obertin
Condolence: Pat worked for Peg for two years with NH Reads AmeriCorps. Peg was a remarkable woman with a quick sense of humor and a love of children's literacy. Always kind and supportive, she was a pleasure to work for and with during reading activities. With a vast network in New Hampshire, she set up training for us members with literacy and social service experts to help us be more effective at our jobs. We just recently found out about her death. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. God must have needed someone to promote literacy in heaven.

Condolence: Dear Kevin and Family,

I am Peggy's (as I knew her) cousin. I have not seen her since we were children before she moved to Maine with the Downing Family but I want to send my condolences. I did not know of her passing until today when I received a Christmas card from Jan and Dennis Downing. I am so sorry for your loss.

Condolence: I met Peg when she was Director of "NH Reads" and I worked in the same building. Our paths crossed in many ways and, before I knew it, she had drawn me into the group with my puppet collection. (I gave her a marionette bird as she loved mine so much.) Peg was an inspiration every day. She was positive, outgoing, inclusive and interested. The twinkle in her eyes revealed the life and energy that she possessed and her goodwill and friendship were treasures. I am so lucky to have had her in my life, even for a brief time. I send love and prayers for healing to all of you who are mourning her loss.

Condolence: I can't imagine a future without Peg. I was so glad when she moved to Maine and I was so looking forward to having more time with her after I retire this year. I've always admired her in so many ways and wished I could be like her. I pray that Peg's dear husband and siblings will find comfort in their many precious memories.

Condolence: Everyone at the Children's Literacy Foundation is so sad to hear this news. Peg was an active member of CLif's Board of Advisors from 2000 to 2011. Our nonprofit supports and inspires many thousands of low-income, at-risk, and rural young readers and writers across NH and VT every year. Peg's enthusiasm for our work and the children we serve was contagious and we loved having her on the Board. Over the eleven years she served as a CLif Advisor she contributed a tremendous amount due to her considerable experience in children's literacy programs and her energy. Peg was a special person. She was always upbeat and warm, and she made the room brighter when she entered. We will miss her very much.

Condolence: Peg has left such a fingerprint in every area in my life. She will always be in every interaction with my child, and every child I spend time with. She had a heart and generosity of spirit, that I have never known in my lifetime. I would love to sing if needed at the service, but if it isn't needed, I understand. My phone number for the family is 207-751-0704.
