Obituary for Marcia King Jordan

Ellsworth/Portland
Marcia King Jordan passed away unexpectedly in Portland October 2, 2015. Marcia was born August 28, 1931 in Ellsworth, Maine to Harold and Cora (Watson) King.
She graduated from Ellsworth High School 1949 and Washington State Normal School which is now known as University of Maine at Machias, Maine 1952. Marcia married the love of her life Charlie on February 23, 1952 in Ellsworth, Maine and had (62) happy years together before his death last November. She was a Teacher in both Ellsworth and Houlton, Maine before retiring in 1984. Her daughter had the fortune or misfortune of having her mother as a (4th grade teacher) at the Knowlton School in Ellsworth, Maine. Students to this day still say what a teacher she was. Upon retiring Marcia and Charlie travelled extensively with friends and family members Calvin and Dottie Jordan.
In her younger years Marcia and her longtime buddy Nancy Tarbox of Saco, Maine in their spare time were Girl Scout Leaders, Marcia was the Assistant. Marcia was also very active in the Order of Eastern Star, Irene Chapter #97 and was a Life Member as well. She was well known for cooking especially her Homemade Yeast Rolls that were a must at every occasion, those will be sadly missed. Spending their days travelling, shopping and meeting new friends was what she enjoyed. After moving to Portland, she and Charlie became very active in the Portland Parks and Recreation program for seniors, it was here they meet many new friends from Southern, Maine.
Marcia is survived by her daughter Jennifer Jordan-Trombley and her husband Michael of Portland; her Step-Granddaughter Tricia Trombley, her fiancé Adrian Aguilar and Great-Step Granddaughter Liana and Great Step-Grandson Zackary of Falmouth, and Step Grandson Michael of Arizona; a special nephew Kelly and his wife Christine of Ellsworth; as well as several other nieces, nephews, cousins and old and new friends survive. Marcia was predeceased by her Husband Charles (Charlie) in November 2014.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of the Portland Fire Department and EMT’s that assisted her as well as Maine Medical Center ER and Staff at Maine Medical Center Gibson Wing. The staff went out of their way in her final hours to help.
A service celebrating Marcia’s Life will be held at Jordan-Fernald in Ellsworth, 113 Franklin St. on Wednesday October 7, 2015. Visiting hour from 12:00 to 1:00, and service immediately following with Robert Maddocks officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Lamoine
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions may be made in Marcia’s name to either Alzheimer’s or the charity of your choice.
