Obituary for Lawrence Albee

Bar Harbor
Lawrence E. Albee, 76, died May 30, 2014 at Bar Harbor with his family by his side. He was born August 29, 1937 in Bernard to Myron and Erma (Tate) Albee.
Lawrence was proud to have grown up in the village of Bernard. He lived some of those years with his next-door grandfather, James. Life was hard, but he had lots of stories about his great group of neighbor friends. Lawrence attended school in Tremont and Pemetic. In 1959, he married Lucille Morse and they had three children. He worked at Jackson Lab for 40 years, and painted houses on the side to support his family. Lawrence loved to travel, and to go boating. A great day would be a boating trip around the island with his friend and cousin Zettie. He was a collector of antique engines, and model tractors. Kids loved to visit and play with the toy trucks. He spent a lot of years camping with Lucille. They were seasonal campers at Whispering Pines for many years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Lucille; two sons, Lawrence W. and his wife Patty of Seal cove, and Brian S. of Trenton; four grandchildren, Emma Albee of Seal Cove, Sarah Albee of Concord, NH.; Austin and Croix Albee of Trenton; and many close nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; siblings; Clyde, Pauline, Norman, and Geraldine. Lawrence and Lucille lost their daughter Judith Lynne in 1979 in a car accident.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 5 at 2pm at Eden Baptist Church in Salisbury Cove with Pastor Bob Maddocks officiating. A reception will follow. Contributions in Lawrence’s memory may be made to the Judy Albee Scholarship Fund, c/o The First, 102 Main Street, Bar Harbor ME 04609; or to the IFOPA (a support group for his granddaughter Emma’s genetic condition), P.O.
