Obituary for Jyl Veinot Katsiaficas

ELLSWORTH
Jyl Veinot Katsiaficas, wife, mother, sister, daughter-in-law, and friend passed away on November 6, 2011 in a hospital near their home in VA. With her husband and children at her side she fought the cancer bravely to spend as much time with them as possible. Although she ended the earthly portion of her life much too soon, she leaves behind many friends and special memories. Jyl was born January 28, 1954 in Lynn, MA, daughter of John Kitchner Veinot and Madge Daye Veinot.
She succeeded in several different professions but the one she valued most was her last: Head Teacher for the Special Education students, in Eastville, VA. She was both teacher and advocate striving to meet all their needs. Their affection for "Ms.Kat" was obvious when watching them interact. Jyl’s life was entirely about her family, she lived for them, and anyone who knew her, knew how important her family was to her.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond C. Katsiaficas and three children, Seth, Courtney and fiancé Ben, and Demetrios. She leaves two sisters, Candace and husband Eric Lamberton of VA., and Jan Veinot of ME.; one brother, Jon Veinot of Maine. She leaves many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mom lived life with a vibrancy and passion which succeeds its longevity.

Services will be held 1:00pm, Saturday November 19, 2011 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth
