Obituary for Judith A. Gerrish

Bar Harbor
Judith A. (Hutchins) Gerrish, 70, died at home April 4, 2013, from cancer. She was born in Bangor, March 11, 1943, the only child of Gerald D. and Joy L. (Grindle) Hutchins.

She graduated from Bar Harbor High School, Class of 1961, married Lewis (Sonny) Gerrish, Jr and they began life's journey, running her parents' tourist business, raising their two sons and pursuing her passion for the field of Law Enforcement. She joined the Bar Harbor Police Reserves, attended U of Maine, where she earned an Associate Degree in Law Enforcement and also taught in the program. She also worked for US Customs for a number of years. She trained and worked a Police Canine. She was very proud of her grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow and mature.
She is survived by her husband of 51+ years, Sonny; her two sons, Lewis III and his wife Debbie, and Gerald (Matt) and his wife Andrea, and her two grandchildren, Rebecca and Hutchin. She was predeceased by her parents.
A graveside service will be held 3pm, Tuesday April, 9 at Hillside Cemetery, Hulls Cove.
