Obituary for Juanita L. Keene

Juanita Louise Keene, 80, died, December 4, 2014 at a Bangor health care facility. She was born December 13, 1933 in Gouldsboro, a daughter of James Rulof and Cassie Lena (Bickford) Farrell Sr.
Juanita married Royal S. Keene in 1954. She was a United States Customs Officer for the Bluenose Ferry Service from 1956 to 1969. She owned and operated with her husband Royal, the Royal Green Houses from 1969 until their retirement in 1989. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Royal & Juanita enjoyed the retirement life and friends on Donnell Pond. They loved having the family over for weekend gatherings. She loved all the animals on the pond, from the squirrels and birds to the many dogs that affected their life, Oak-lee being her recent daily companion, who is going to miss her dearly.
Juanita is survived by two sons, Alan Keene and wife Patricia, and R. Christopher Keene and wife Kimberly all of Bar Harbor; two daughters, Jennie Keene of Bar Harbor and Brenda Power of Holden; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great- great grandchild; many nieces and nephews; two brothers; Donald Farrell of Lubec and Jim Farrell of Virginia; and a sister, Alice Cousins of Portland. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Royal S. Keene; three brothers, Embert, John, and David; and a sister, Corine Farrell.
Graveside services will be held in the spring at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor.
