Obituary for Joanna G. Herrick

BAR HARBOR-- Joanna G. Herrick, 77, died Nov. 20, 2012 at a Bangor hospital. She was born at Norwich, CT, Aug. 23, 1935, the daughter of Leonard John and Cecilia (Miskiawitch) Garstka.
Joanna will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an avid seamstress and scrapbooker. She was a faithful and very active member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Bar Harbor where she served on the Church Council for many years and was Director of Religious Education. She was also a member of the Acadia Handbell Choir and Preceptor Psi Society in Bar Harbor. Joanna’s life was her church and family.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Charles A. Herrick; one son, Alan Herrick and his wife, Jenny of Redwood Shores, CA; three daughters, Laurie Crisafi of Somers, CT, Karen Lendvay and husband, Jim of Coventry, CT, Jennifer Vesci and husband, Tom of Newington, CT; one sister, Rusty Graska of Vacaville, CA; six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Mt. Desert St., Bar Harbor with Father John O’Hara, celebrant. Spring interment will be at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Bar Harbor.
