Obituary for Jessie M. Carter

Jessie M. Carter, 88, died peacefully June 21, 2009 at an Ellsworth healthcare facility. She was born in Ellsworth, December 11, 1920 the daughter of George C. and Mary E. (Brown) Pierson.
She worked for many years at J. J. Newberry Department Store in Ellsworth. Jessie’s life was her family, living on Laurel Street and talking about the history of the families that lived there.
Jessie is survived by her daughter, Janis Piper of Ellsworth; sister, Eleanor Breslin of MD; nephews, George “Nicky” and wife Marie Pierson and Frank and wife Bette Pierson all of Ellsworth; nieces, Mary Zink and husband Don and Brenda Johnson and husband Dave all of MD; and the little Cocker Spaniel who was a great part of her life, “Grammy’s Katy”. She was predeceased by her husband Ward in February, 2009; brother and sister-in-law, Frank B. Pierson and wife, June; brother-in-law, John Breslin; son-in-law, Donald Norwood. The family thanks Bob and Sara Hessler and Janice Morse for their love and support.
A private graveside service will be held for Jessie and Ward. Contributions in Jessie’s memory may be made to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, c/o Capital Fund for Emergency Room, 50 Union St. Ellsworth 04605
