Obituary for Jeffrey D. Haynes

Northeast Harbor
Jeffrey D. Haynes, 56, died at his home on July 30, 2015. He was born December 25th, 1958 at MDI Hospital, the son of Dana and Lucy (Dillon) Haynes.
Jeff graduated from MDI High School and entered the work force at the family business, Haynes Garage, where he worked beside his grandparents, parents and brother for many years. Jeff had an amazing mind for engines, boats and cars. He loved Sunday race day watching NASCAR and was proud of the time he spent as a crew chief at Speedway 95. He also enjoyed his time as a stern man on a local lobster boat. Jeff had his life addiction, but through it all loved his family and they loved him! He was so proud of his boys and all that they accomplished in their lives. He had a heart as big as the full moon and was kind beyond words. A trip to meet his granddaughter and see his son after a deployment was one of Jeff's fondest memories.

Jeff is survived by his parents of Northeast Harbor and his sons, J. Dana Haynes, Jr. of Trenton and Sergeant First Class Richard M. Haynes II, US Army and his wife Sarah and Jeff's only granddaughter Kaya Ashleigh all of North Carolina. His brother, Dan Haynes and wife, Becky and his sister, Wendy Littlefield and husband John all of Northeast Harbor. A brother, Stephen Tracy and his wife Darlene of North Carolina. The mother of his loving boys, Becky Hodgkins of Alabama and a special Nephew, Ryan and Niece Haley of Northeast Harbor. His special friends, Tim Allen and Bert Damon and many others that always shared a smile with Jeff over the years. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Richard and Margaret Haynes of Northeast Harbor, and Mabel and Charles Russell of Indian Harbour Beach Florida and a special niece, Ashleigh Margaret Littlefield. Laugh when you can apologize when you should and let go of what you can't change. Life's too short to be anything.......but happy. It's a bubba thing!

A private family service will be held. Gifts in his memory can be made to the MDIHS Black Rose Theater Renovation fund that was established in memory of his niece, Ashleigh, to MDIHS, P.O. Box 180, Mt. Desert, 04660
