Obituary for Jean Merchant Gray

Mount Desert
Jean Merchant Gray, 84, died May 13, 2012 at a healthcare facility in Hancock. She was born in Somesville, April 30, 1928 the daughter of Eugene S. and Mabel A. (Benson) Merchant.
She retired after 26 years as a cook at the Mt. Desert Elementary School serving many children over the years.
Jean is survived by a son, Larry Gray and wife Regina of Peyton, CO; daughter, Marion Farr and husband Timothy of Windham; grandchildren, Tammy Goodwin and husband Rusty, Kimberly Brown and husband Robert, Kelly Gray, Patrick Gray and wife Beth, Timothy Farr, Jr., Daren Farr, and Melissa Farr; great-grandchildren, Aaron Graham, Mikaela Goodwin, Christian Farr, Dalton and Wyatt Gray; brother, Malcolm Merchant of Bangor; sisters, Valorie Kelley and husband Tom of Trenton, Eleanor Renault of Northeast Harbor, Carol Beal and husband David of Mt. Desert; daughter-in-law, Nyoka G. Gray of Mt. Desert; many nieces and nephews; and a special caretaker, Andrea. She was predeceased by her husband, Everard “Tator” Gray; son, Richard A. Gray; brothers, Donald and Richard Merchant.
At Jean’s request there will be no service. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Northeast Harbor.
