Obituary for Jane F. Landers

Ellsworth
Jane Feher Landers, 92, died on November 14, 2012 at Courtland Living & Rehabilitation Center of natural causes. Jane was born August 20, 1920 to Anthony Joseph Feher and Ina Martha Donally Feher in Brooklyn, NY.
She grew up in Lansdowne, PA graduating from Lansdowne High School and then went on to graduate from Moore College and Business College at Taylor Institute, both in Philadelphia, PA. Jane got her degree in Fashion Design, but as fates would have it, spent her career as a travel agent starting in Philadelphia, PA and culminating with a position in Corporate Travel with Citibank in New York City. As a result of her career, she was a world traveler and visited many wonderful and exotic places during her life. Jane married Albert Schoppe Landers in 1964 and they lived in Riverdale, NY until retirement in 1981 when they moved to Ellsworth. Albert was a native Mainer and Jane loved living in Maine as well. Jane was very active in the Republican Party on Local, State and National levels. She served in almost every position possible in the Hancock County Republican Party, the Hancock County Republican Women’s Club, Maine Federation of Republican Women and even served as President of the National Federation of Republican Women in the mid 1990’s. She served many times as a delegate to the Maine State Republican Convention. She also ran for State Senate and though unsuccessful in her bid, continued to work tirelessly for other candidates.
She is survived by her niece Teri Ficken and husband Andy, of Portland, Texas, her nephew Tony Feher of New York City, & her step-son Joe Landers, and wife Chris of Montgomery, New York as well as many cousins. Jane was pre-deceased by her parents, Cdr. & Mrs. Anthony Joseph Feher (Ina), her husband Albert Landers, and her brother Cdr. M. Anthony Feher.
The family would like to thank Andrea Shorey for her many years of devoted service to Jane’s health and welfare. Jane came to refer to her as her adopted “granddaughter” and she will always hold a special place in our hearts.
A Celebration of Jane’s Life will be held 3-5pm, Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 49 Pine Street, Ellsworth. Memories are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation in Jane’s memory to the charity of your choice. Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth.
