Obituary for James R. "Jimmy" Jordan

James “Jimmy” Ross Jordan, 64, passed away unexpectedly at an Ellsworth hospital on April 22, 2010. He was born in Ellsworth, September 9, 1945, the youngest of 11 children of Elliott and Marguerite (Bunker) Jordan. He attended the Waltham schools and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1964.
He was the Waltham Little League Coach for most of his nephews and Waltham boy’s coach of the Cave Hill Basketball team, a cook at Hilltop in Ellsworth, operated the Bookmobile for the State of Maine, operated Jordan Valley High Restaurant in Amherst and owned the Jordan’s Country Store in Waltham. He and his wife, Carol have owned and operated Jordan’s Snack Bar in Ellsworth since 1981. He was part owner of Winterport Dragway since 1996.
In 1972 he became a member of the Ellsworth Masonic Lodge #40. He was a member of the Anah Shrine since 1980 and was a member of the Ellsworth Lions Club, King Lion and President in 1988-89. He was also a member of the Ellsworth Elks Lodge #2745.
Jimmy enjoyed riding his snowmobile, living at his home on Molasses Pond, and going to his home in Florida in the winter. Most of all, he enjoyed his time with his family on vacation and at Molasses Pond. Jimmy will be remembered for his hard work ethics, his warm and friendly smile and his love of his family and friends. We all are going to miss him at Jordan’s Snack Bar.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carol (Jordan) Jordan of Ellsworth and Eastbrook; his sons, Shawn Jordan of Ellsworth and Michael Jordan and his wife, Tracy of Hancock; his grandchildren, Andrew Jordan of Ellsworth and Macey and Lucas Jordan of Hancock; his sisters, Madalyn Jordan of Hulls Cove, Ernestine Flynn and her husband, Edward of Rumford Center and Gloria Johnson and her companion, Ron Gregory, of Why, Arizona; his brothers, Thomas Jordan Sr., and his wife, Sandra, and Marshall Jordan and his wife, Patsy of Waltham, Philip Jordan and his wife, Joan of Frankfort, R. Dale Jordan and his companion, Jean Crockett of Eastbrook and Ellsworth; former daughter-in-law, Tracie Jordan of Ellsworth; his mother-in-law, Hildred Jordan of Waltham; his brother-in-law, Bernard Jordan and his wife, Roxann, of Waltham; his sister-in-law ,Carolyn Hopkins and her husband, LJ of Southwest Harbor; his sister-in-law, Lucille Jordan of Waltham; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Pauline Wilcox; his brothers, Harvey H. Jordan and Russell Jordan.
Friends are invited to call 5:30-7:00PM, Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin Street, Ellsworth. Funeral services will be held 10:00AM, Wednesday, April 28, at the First Congregational Church in Ellsworth. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Waltham.
