Obituary for Herman O. Winer (Hank)
Herman (Hank) O. Winer, 86, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2012. Hank was born April 13, 1925 in New York, NY to Morris and Sophie Winer.
Hank was a WWII veteran and a public school teacher for 17 years teaching a variety of classes in Industrial Arts, later retiring to Mount Desert Island. He was a skilled craftsman whose knowledge and skills included professional experience as a photographer, jeweler, cabinetmaker, and later as a novice ships carpenter.
Hank loved to travel, a passion that brought together his love of maps, geography, food and the arts. He loved the ocean, Classical music, Shakespeare and classic movies and was unwavering in his tastes.
He is survived by one daughter, Shira (Winer) Gold and her daughter Chloe Bisping and one son, Joshua Winer, his wife Dawn Lamendola and their son Griffin Winer.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Ina Rita Gold Winer, and his sister Vera Krieger.
