Obituary for Helen C. Wood

Bar Harbor
Helen C. Wood, 81, died August 23, 2013 in Anderson, South Carolina. She was born March 5, 1932 in Bar Harbor, the daughter of Clyde and Avis (Porter) Carter.
She graduated from Brooklin High School in 1951. Helen went to Providence Bible School, receiving her Associates degree. Helen worked at the First National Bank, then at Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Company. She also worked for the Bar Harbor Town office for 20 years. Helen enjoyed participating in sports when she was younger and later on watching them. She was also a member of The First Baptist Church, Bar Harbor and a woman’s mission group, as secretary. One of her favorite past times was driving through Acadia National Park, searching for deer.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Donald A. Wood; two sons, James D. Wood and wife Jean of Exeter, NH and Michael A. Wood and wife Iris of Bucksport; daughter, Donna W. Wright and husband Jeff of Pickens, SC.; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Paul Cavanaugh of Calais. Helen was predeceased by a daughter, Diane Cavanaugh in 2006 and her sister, Thelma Leach.
Friends are invited to call 10:00-11:00AM, Thursday, August 29, 2013 at the First Baptist Church, Bar Harbor, where funeral services will follow at 11:00AM with Pastor Scott Records, officiating. Interment will be at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor.
