Obituary for Harold F. Logan

Harold F. Logan, Jr. 76, died February 19,, 2014 after a sudden heart attack at home in their cabin at Spectacle Pond, his favorite spot on earth. He was born in October 7, 1937 in Concord, New Hampshire the son of Harold F. and Hazel I. (Edmunds) Logan, Sr.
Harold was a graduate of Middleboro Memorial High School, Middleboro Mass. class of 1955, and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1962. He married the former Ann Miller from Middleboro Mass in Sept 6, 1959. After College they moved to Maine in 1962. In 2004 Harold and Ann retired to their beloved cabin at Spec Pond Osborn.
Harold was a true sportsman. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, trapper and Maine Guide. He took every opportunity to be outdoors and enjoyed these activities with many friends. He especially enjoyed spring fishing on the Alagash, 4-wheeling in the summer, deer hunting in the fall and snowmobiling and ice fishing in the winter.
With Harold family always came first. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather & uncle. He waited and planned all year to have the grandchildren come visit at Spec Pond. They enjoyed immensely 4-wheeling, swimming, boating, and fishing. Harold was truly at his happiest when he was surrounded by his family and friends. He was a genuine people person and made many lifelong friends as a traveling Pharmacist for Welby’s and wherever he went.
He owned and operated Alexander’s Pharmacy, Ellsworth for 17 years. For the past 5 years he has worked part-time at Machias Friendly Pharmacy, Machias. In 2013 the Maine Board of Pharmacy recognized and awarded Harold for his 50 years of dedicated service to the profession of Pharmacy.
He was a past president of the Ellsworth Lions club, a past president of the Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce. He was a Mason and Shriner.
He is survived by his loving wife Ann of 54 years; one son Scott H. Logan of Bangor Maine; one daughter Mary Kay Heilbron and husband Mike of Superior Colorado; two sisters, Laralei Duarte of Augusta Maine and Jane Rippe and her husband Edward of Enfield New Hampshire; two much loved grandchildren, Ricky & Megan Heilbron; a very special aunt, Janet Turcotte of Bath Maine; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a treasured little granddog, Zoey. He was predeceased by his parents; and one younger brother, John M. Logan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be prayed at 2 pm, Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 231 Main Street, Ellsworth with Father Scott Mower presiding.
The family suggests that those who desire may make contributions in Harold’s memory to a charity of one’s choice, rather than sending flowers.
