Obituary for Grace Abbott (Paine)

Grace (Paine) Abbott, 97, died January 19, 2012 at a Bar Harbor healthcare facility. She was born March 16, 1914, in Bar Harbor the daughter of Norman and Bessie (Norwood) Paine. She was the last of their ten children.
Grace received the Boston Cane.
She worked for more than 30 years at the Bar Harbor Bank & Trust. Grace loved to play pool, put puzzles together and walk every day.
She was a member of the Senior Citizen Club for a time, where she held vice president.
Grace is survived by her daughter, Geraldine Betourney of Claremont, NH., three sons; Richard Abbott of Hancock, Arthur Abbott of Seal Harbor and Thomas Abbott and his wife, Gail, of Bar Harbor. A son-in-law, Andrew Hopkins of East Millinocket. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, the last was Grace Elisabeth Cannard of Sandown, NH. Her great-great grandfather was Thomas Paine, the first town clerk of Eden 1796 (Bar Harbor).
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur L. Abbott Sr. and by her daughter, Elisabeth Abbott Hopkins.
Private burial will be in the spring at the Hillside Cemetery, Hulls Cove.
