Obituary for Gloria J. Bessette

Bass Harbor
Gloria Jean (Elkins) Bessette, 64, passed away August 22, 2012 surrounded by her loving family and friends in Bangor. She was born in Dexter, June 25, 1948 the daughter of Earl and Elaine (Salisbury) Elkins.

Gloria was a loving partner, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to a lot of people. Gloria enjoyed being able to spend time at camp with Ash. She also loved hunting, shooting, watching wildlife, reading, gardening, and making crafts. Her greatest joy in life was helping people, in one way or another, always without fail putting everyone before herself. Her unexpected passing is a great loss for her family and friends.
My dear sweet Mother, I will miss you so much!!! Your time came too soon, we will miss your smile and your loving way that made everyone feel special. You gave so much to everyone and expected so little in return. You were happy with just being loved. Our mother was known to go without so someone would not have to. Those who knew her would call her a very special lady!!! Our Mom was plagued with poor health and in a lot of pain for many years. Now you can rest. We know you are safe now with family who went before you, and that there is a special place set aside for you free from the pains of this world, where you wait with that smile of yours and open arms to see us all again. We will miss you dearly.
Gloria is survived by her partner and soul mate, Ash Powers; children, Berkley Graves, Bradley Graves and Kimberly Ricker; her sister Janet (Elkins) Baron Murphy; a very special cousin, Carol Martin; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; cousins; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Roland and Russell Elkins.
At Gloria’s request there will be no service. Donations may be made in Gloria’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main Street, Mt. Desert.
