Obituary for Glenice Carter

Mt. Desert
Glenice Carter, 88, died August 9, 2013 in Bar Harbor. She was born September 25, 1924 in Tremont, the daughter of Everett L. and Nora E. (Lunt) Mitchell.
Glenice grew up in Bernard. Then she married Donald M. Carter on August 19, 1941 and they made their home on Beech Hill in Mt. Desert. She worked at Frenchman’s Bay Motel for 18 years, then at the Jackson Laboratory for 10 years, retiring in 1988. In her later years, she and Edwin Davis were companions. They traveled to many places, including Branson, MO, Florida and the Bahamas.
She is survived by two sons; John M. Carter of Mt. Desert and Charles E. Carter and wife, Susan of Mt. Desert and Hobe Sound, FL.; four grandchildren, Kimberly C. Devanney, Christopher J. Carter, Christina C. Butler and Gretchen L. Carter; six great-grandchildren; niece Betty Allen; and nephew Michael Tate. She was predeceased by her sister, Jessie Tate.
Friends are invited to call 2:00-3:00PM, Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mt. Desert, where a memorial service will be held at 3:00PM.
