Obituary for Georgia C. Candage

Hulls Cove
Georgia C. Candage, 88, died July 24, 2015 at a Bangor hospital surrounded by her family. She was born October 17, 1926 in Bar Harbor. The daughter of Frank Wilder and Susie Juanita (Allen) Cummings.

Georgia spent her early years growing up in Eden. After graduating from Bar Harbor High School, Georgia married Chester “Bud”Candage. Bud was in both the Navy and Coastguard, which gave the family the opportunity to live at Portland Head Light, Virginia Beach and several other locations. After retirement they enjoyed traveling together. Georgia worked as a chambermaid at a number of local hotels and cabins. She was a fixture at the Pot and Kettle Club, where she opened and closed the club for the season. She did all the laundry, cleaning, and preparations. Georgia was an avid reader and had a talent for crossword puzzles. She loved listening to Daniel O’Donnell, watching figure skating and feeding all the wild life that frequented her yard for food. Georgia was a member of TOPS for many years. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling and attending the” Wayback Balls” with Bud and friends.
Georgia is survived by two sons; Richard, of Hulls Cove and Paul and wife Kelly, from Skowhegan and Hulls Cove. Four grandchildren; Christopher Candage and wife Maria, Rachael Higgins and husband James, Ryan Candage and Amy, and Ian Candage and Lindsay; Six great grandchildren, Teagan, Colby, Georgia Madison, Olivia Rae, Landan James and Aiden; many nieces, nephews and her special niece Marilyn McEntee. Georgia was predeceased by her husband Chester and two brothers Harold and Shirley Cummings.
Friends are invited to call from 1-2pm Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Jordan –Fernald Home, 1139 Main Street, Mount Desert Maine. Service will follow at 2pm with Pastor Robert Maddocks officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Hulls Cove.
