Obituary for George H. Conley

George H.  Conley
Ellsworth, ME -- George H. Conley, 98, of Ellsworth, died on Friday, July 29, 2016 at his home. He was born on July 10, 1918 in Ellsworth Falls to Henry W. and Minnie B. (Whitney) Conley.

George graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1937 and attended Higgins Classical Institute and Colby College. He served in WWII in the US Army 9th Infantry Division in Europe.

He was an active member of the Union Congregational Church of Ellsworth Falls serving on numerous committees. He was employed at H.C. Austin Furniture Company for 29 years retiring in 1986. He was a member of the VFW 9th Infantry Division Association, and participated in community service. George was an avid reader.

George is survived by two daughters: Elizabeth Ramirez and her husband Marius, of Ellsworth, and Margaret Conley of Seattle, WA; two grandchildren, Verity and Demelza Ramirez, both of Ellsworth; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Ella Nason Conley; one brother; and five sisters.

Graveside memorial services will be held on Friday, Aug 5th, 2016, 11:00am at Woodbine Cemetery in Ellsworth with Pastor Bob Maddocks officiating.
