Ellsworth
Geoffrey James Adams, 74, passed away February 03, 2015 at his home from complications of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). He was born August 17, 1940 in Passaic, NJ
Geoff grew up in Wayne, NJ where he attended high school. After graduation he attended Bucknell University and graduated from Upsala University with a degree in journalism.
In 1964, Geoff joined the New Jersey National Guard and served until 1970. After working as a newspaper reporter for the Passaic Herald News, he worked as an advertising executive for Monroe Calculator Company and then became the manager of advertising and sales promotion for Prudential Insurance Company in Chicago, IL. In 1977 Geoff and his family moved to Ellsworth where he and his wife Nancy opened and ran the Craft Barn for 35 years before selling the business in 2012. He was the first president of the Downtown Merchants Association and served on the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Geoff was an avid photographer and enjoyed almost 50 summers at the family summer home on Swans Island.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Ellsworth; daughters, Daryl Adams of Ellsworth, Laurie Smallidge and husband Mike of Bar Harbor; brother, Tim Adams and wife Carolyn of Philadelphia, PA.
Visiting hours for family and friends will be 2:00-4:00 pm, February 21, 2015 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St. Ellsworth
