Obituary for Gaylor A. Gray

Blue Hill-- Gaylor A. Gray, 95, died August 17, 2012 at a Penobscot healthcare facility. He was born in Sedgwick, November 7, 1916 the son of George and Gladys (Grindle) Gray.
Mike, as he was known to most, grew up in Blue Hill and graduated from George Stevens Academy in the class of 1935. Mike was a Merchant Marine officer, sailing the North Atlantic in Liberty ships during WWII. Following the war, he joined Sun Oil Company (Sunoco) as a radio officer in their tanker fleet. He was employed by them for 32 years.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alma B. Gray; daughter, Bonnie Scholl and her husband Harrison of Burnett, TX; son, Scott Gray and his partner Edward Griffin of Blue Hill; three grandchildren, Tanya Blake, Heather Peacock, and Allisan Gray; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at noon, Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the family cemetery at 892 Kingdom Road, Blue Hill. A gathering of family and friends will follow at Scott and Edward’s home.
