Obituary for Frederick Richard Pollard

Frederick Richard Pollard, 80, died peacefully August 20, 2015 at his home with his wife, Theresa by his side. He was born in Swanville, March 03, 1935 the son of Richard Frederick and Bessie Ruth (Doliber) Pollard.
He moved to Stillwater at the age of eight where he made many lifelong friends and attended Old Town High School. He became a marksman at the age of ten with the sling shot that he made, along with his BB gun, bow and arrow, and his many guns. He was an avid hunter and trout fisherman and spent many happy days hunting and fishing with his brothers Frank and John. Fred had a very loving relationship with his siblings and his family. He was very curious, always searching the meadows for any kind of wildlife. He was the shadow of his dad as a child, spending endless hours in the barn workshop, where he learned to be very creative with wood and metals. He built two homes for his family and also helped his brother Frank build his home. He enjoyed tinkering on projects around his home, camping, and working in his garden.
In 1988, Fred and his wife, Theresa moved to Brooklin, where he was employed at Jimmy Steel Boat Yard for several years, and Brooklin Boat Yard for over 20 years. Fred was a true craftsman in the art of boat building, where he specialized in custom fabrication.
Fred is survived by his loving wife, Theresa Arline Labree , of 63 years, their children; Richard Pollard and his wife, Linda, Mark Pollard and his wife Laurie, and Vicki Pollard and her husband, Jeff Sibley; grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, Jason, Angela, Jessica, Christina, and Mark; great-grandchildren, Rayna, Gabriel, Cody, Brianna, and Jacob; sisters, Janet Thibodeau, and husband Bob, Donna Laskey, and husband, Harold, Mary Young, Betty White, and brother, John Pollard and wife Wendy, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Gayle Marie Pollard, his son Wayne Allan Pollard, his brother in law, Harold Young, his brothers, Paul Cookson, Kenneth Cookson, and Frank Cookson.
Fred always had a special place in his heart for his dogs, especially, Maddy.
Calling hours will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm, August 24, 2015 at Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 113 Franklin St. Ellsworth for family and friends.
