Obituary for Fred Donald Bucklin

Northeast Harbor
Fred Donald Bucklin, 87, died September 16, 2015 in Bar Harbor. He was born August 26, 1928 in Bar Harbor, the son of Horace Edward and Valerie (Smith) Bucklin.
Fred graduated from Gilman High School, Northeast Harbor in 1946 and he attended Bently School of Accounting in Boston, graduating in 1948. From 1948-1951, he worked as a bookkeeper for H.E. Bucklin in Northeast Harbor. In 1951 he was inducted into the U.S. Army, serving until 1953. Fred then returned to the family business, working until 2002. Fred really enjoyed cooking and going to his camp on Patten Pond. In his early years, he hunted and fished with his buddies, Carl Gilley and Bill Fennelly. Fred was a member of the Odd Fellowes and the St. Mary and St. Jude Episcopal Church, both of Northeast Harbor.
He is survived by two nephews; Chuck Bucklin and wife, Martha of Northeast Harbor and John Younghans and wife, Cheryl of Madison, AL.; five nieces, Suzanne Catanese and husband Anthony of Groton, MA., Belinda Fletcher and husband Dexter of North Billerica, MA., Martha Fleck and husband Bill of Woodstock, IL., Linda Harrison and husband Jack of Canton, OH and Karen Perry of Dartmouth, MA.; one aunt, Allison Salsbury and husband Roland of Townhill, many great nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Forest Hill Cemetery, Northeast Harbor.
