Obituary for Franklin Knight Wills

Franklin Knight Wills, VMD, of Canmer, Kentucky, son of the late Franklin Knight Wills Sr., and Katheryn Howell Wills, was born on July 11, 1925 in Bristol, Pennsylvania, and departed this life on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at his home. He was 87 years of age.
Dr. Wills attended Penn State University and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1950. He received his Masters of Science from Texas A&M University in 1955 and his Doctorate in Veterinary Pathology in 1966 from the University of Connecticut. He served as an Associate Professor at the University of Connecticut from 1960-1962 and as an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland from 1962-1969. He went on the serve as the Associate Director of Sterwin Laboratories in Millsboro, Delaware, eventually becoming their Manager of International Technical Services.
After retiring in 1990, Frank Wills enjoyed working in his orchard and raising tilapia and selling them at the local farmers market. He was an active member of Rockawalkin Methodist Church in Hebron, MD. After he moved to Kentucky in 2007, he faithfully attended the First United Methodist Church of Munfordville where he taught Sunday school.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol; his children; Frank Wills Jr., and wife, Melissa of Seaford, Delaware, Nancy Shockley and husband, Michael of Canmer, Kentucky, Beth Basile and husband, Vince of West DesMoines, Iowa; step-daughters; Mary McMichael and friend, Dick Detweiler of Arlington, Virginia, and JoAnne Mitchell and husband, Dan of McDonough, Georgia; two sisters; Kitty Wolfe of Savannah, Georgia and Nancy Dooley of Jacksonville, Florida; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Private graveside services will be held May 18, 2013 at Mt. Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor. Local arrangements by Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mt. Desert.
